Where to stay near our clinic — accommodation for New Zealand patients

Accommodation options near Picasso Dental Clinic branches in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with guidance on location, recovery comfort, and practical tips for NZ patients.

New Zealand patients visiting Picasso Dental Clinic in Hanoi typically stay in the Old Quarter or Ba Đình district, within 5–15 minutes of the flagship branch, with accommodation options ranging from NZD 60–120 per night for comfortable mid-range hotels to NZD 150–300 per night for four-star options — all within the Grab ride-share coverage area.

Choosing where to stay for your dental treatment is more straightforward than it might seem. The priority is proximity to our clinic, comfort during any post-procedure rest days, and access to food suited to your stage of treatment. This page covers the practical options near each of our main branches.

Hanoi — near our Old Quarter flagship branch

Our flagship Hanoi clinic is at 16 Phố Châu Long, Trúc Bạch, Ba Đình — in the Old Quarter neighbourhood, adjacent to Trúc Bạch Lake. This is one of the most accessible and well-served areas of Hanoi for international visitors.

Old Quarter and Ba Đình district

The Old Quarter (Hoàn Kiếm) and the Ba Đình district surrounding our clinic have the highest density of hotels, serviced apartments, and restaurants in Hanoi. Accommodation ranges from NZD 60 to NZD 120 per night for a comfortable 3-star hotel to NZD 150–300 for 4-star options.

Accommodation typeTypical nightly rate (NZD)Notes
3-star hotel, Old QuarterNZD 60 to NZD 120High availability, most walking distance to clinic
4-star hotel, Ba ĐìnhNZD 120 to NZD 220Quieter than the heart of the Old Quarter
Serviced apartment, 1BRNZD 80 to NZD 160Better for longer stays; kitchen for soft-diet preparation
Boutique hotel, Trúc BạchNZD 90 to NZD 180Within 5–10 min walk of clinic; lake views available

Grab (the SE Asian ride-share app) is available throughout Hanoi. Download it before travelling — it is more reliable and better priced than street taxis, and shows the fare before you confirm.

Westlake (Tây Hồ) — quieter option

Westlake is a residential and expat-heavy area northwest of the Old Quarter, approximately 10–20 minutes from our clinic by Grab. It offers a quieter environment suitable for patients who find the Old Quarter’s activity level disruptive during recovery. Accommodation in Westlake tends to be similar in price to the Old Quarter but with more apartment-style options.

Recovery considerations in Hanoi

After implant surgery or any procedure requiring local anaesthetic, you will want a 24–48 hour rest period. Choose accommodation that does not require significant stair climbing on the post-surgery day. Most hotels have lifts. A serviced apartment with a refrigerator allows you to store cold compresses and soft foods (yoghurt, soup, smoothies) without needing to eat at restaurants during the first recovery day.

Ho Chi Minh City — near our Thảo Điền branch

Our HCMC branch is at 25B Nguyễn Duy Hiệu, Thảo Điền, Quận 2. Thảo Điền is a modern, expat-oriented district with a high concentration of international-standard accommodation and restaurants.

Thảo Điền (Quận 2 / Thu Duc)

Staying in Thảo Điền puts you closest to the clinic — most accommodation is within 5–15 minutes by Grab or on foot.

Accommodation typeTypical nightly rate (NZD)Notes
3-star hotel, Thảo ĐiềnNZD 70 to NZD 130Close to clinic; international restaurant options

4-star hotel, Thảo ĐiềnNZD 130 to NZD 260Facilities suited to recovery stays

District 1 (central HCMC) — alternative option

District 1 is HCMC’s central business district, 15–20 minutes from Thảo Điền by Grab. It has the widest selection of hotels across all price points. Suitable for patients who want more city-centre activity during their free recovery days.

Practical tips for all locations

Book a refundable rate where possible. Dental treatment timelines occasionally shift by a day — your final appointment might need to move if a lab result comes back differently than expected. A refundable booking avoids penalty.

Soft-diet access matters. After any significant dental work — implant surgery, veneers, crown preparation — you will be on a soft diet for at least 24–48 hours. Ask your hotel whether room service includes soup and soft dishes, or choose a serviced apartment with kitchen access.

Pharmacies are accessible. Both areas near our main branches have pharmacies within walking distance. Post-surgery medication prescribed by Picasso is typically available at these pharmacies with the prescription we provide.

Bring your own pillow case. A minor but practical tip: patients who have had implant surgery are advised to use an extra pillow to elevate the head while sleeping. An inflatable travel pillow or requesting an extra pillow from the hotel works well.

Tell your accommodation you are here for medical treatment. Some hotels have staff who can assist with soft-food requests or arrange a quiet room away from street noise if they know your situation.

Frequently asked questions

Where should New Zealand patients stay when visiting Picasso in Hanoi?

The Old Quarter and Ba Đình district are the most convenient areas for the flagship branch at 16 Phố Châu Long. Both areas have a wide range of accommodation at NZD 60–300+ per night and are within 5–15 minutes by Grab. Westlake (Tây Hồ) is a quieter, more residential area within 10–20 minutes of the clinic — popular with patients who prefer a less busy neighbourhood.

Where should patients stay when visiting the Ho Chi Minh City branch?

The Thảo Điền area in Quận 2 (near the HCMC branch) or District 1 (the main central district, 15–20 minutes away) are the most practical areas. Thảo Điền has a large expat community and many comfortable hotels, serviced apartments, and restaurants suited to post-treatment soft diets.

How long will New Zealand patients typically need accommodation for?

For veneer and crown cases: 7–12 nights. For implant cases (placement trip): 5–7 nights. For implant final crown trips: 5–7 nights. For smile makeover cases: 8–14 nights. Allow 1–2 buffer nights around your final appointment in case of adjustment needs.

Can Picasso arrange accommodation?

We can provide a list of hotels and serviced apartments near each branch that our patients have used. We do not book accommodation on your behalf, but we can make a recommendation based on your treatment type and budget.

Is it safe to stay in the Old Quarter as a solo traveller from New Zealand?

Yes. The Old Quarter is one of the most visited areas in Hanoi with a strong tourist and expat infrastructure. Most New Zealand patients travel there without difficulty. Standard urban precautions apply — secure your valuables, use Grab rather than unlicensed taxis, and keep your clinic contact details accessible.

What accommodation is suitable for post-surgery recovery?

After implant surgery or bone grafting, a quiet room with good airflow, access to cold water, and proximity to pharmacies is helpful. Avoid accommodation requiring many stairs in the first 48 hours post-surgery. A serviced apartment with a small kitchen allows soft-food preparation. We can advise on this when we send your pre-surgery instructions.
