Picasso Dental Clinic Hanoi — Old Quarter and Westlake branches
Picasso Dental Clinic Hanoi: flagship Old Quarter branch, quieter Westlake location, one-stop from Christchurch ~NZD 750, All-on-4 from NZD 8,333, implants from NZD 2,667, May 2026.
Picasso Dental Clinic's Hanoi flagship is at 16 Phố Châu Long, Trúc Bạch, Ba Đình, with a second branch at LKC22 Hoàng Minh Thảo, Bắc Từ Liêm — reachable from Christchurch via one-stop flights observed around NZD 750 one-way, with All-on-4 from NZD 8,333 per arch and Nobel/Straumann implants from NZD 2,667 (May 2026, 1 NZD = 15,000 VND).
Hanoi is Picasso Dental Clinic’s flagship city and the most common destination for New Zealand patients travelling from Christchurch, Wellington, and those combining treatment with an extended northern Vietnam itinerary. The city offers a culturally rich recovery environment that is meaningfully different from Da Nang’s beach focus — suited to patients who want more than a clinic appointment and a beach walk. This page covers both Hanoi branches, the routes from New Zealand cities, and what a practical Hanoi treatment stay looks like.
Two Picasso branches in Hanoi
Picasso Dental Clinic has two branches in Hanoi, each serving a different patient profile.
The Old Quarter flagship is at 16 Phố Châu Long, Trúc Bạch, Ba Đình. This is the original and primary Hanoi clinic. It is located in the Ba Đình district, adjacent to the Trúc Bạch area and a short walk from the southern edge of Hồ Tây (West Lake) — close enough to the Old Quarter to have easy access to hotels, restaurants, and cultural sites, but slightly removed from the most congested 36 streets. This is where the full breadth of Picasso treatments is available and where most visiting NZ patients are seen. Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
The Westlake Square branch is at LKC22 Hoàng Minh Thảo, Bắc Từ Liêm. This is a newer location in a developing residential and commercial area north-west of the Old Quarter. It is quieter, sees less tourist foot traffic, and may suit patients who prefer a calmer clinical environment and are staying in the Westlake or Mỹ Đình areas. Treatment quality and pricing are identical at both branches.

Flying to Hanoi from New Zealand
There is no direct flight from New Zealand to Hanoi. All routes require at least one stop.
From Christchurch (CHC), one-stop fares to Hanoi (HAN) have been observed around NZD 750 one-way (May 2026), typically routing via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or another Southeast Asian hub. Total travel time with connection is generally 14–20 hours depending on the stopover.
From Wellington (WLG), routes are similar in structure and price to Christchurch, with the same common transit points.
From Auckland (AKL), Hanoi remains a one-stop journey. Auckland passengers also have the option of the direct AKL–Da Nang (DAD) service, which is typically around NZD 1,005 one-way — so Da Nang can be more competitive on flight time for Aucklanders, though the two cities serve different recovery preferences.
For a full route comparison by departure city, see /nz-guide/flights-to-vietnam/.
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is approximately 35–45 km from the Old Quarter flagship — typically 45–60 minutes by car. Grab from Noi Bai is reliable and inexpensive. Budget approximately NZD 15–20 for the trip.
The Old Quarter recovery experience
The Trúc Bạch and Old Quarter area is walkable, historically dense, and has a very large number of cafés and restaurants — including many serving pho, congee, and soft noodle dishes that work well for post-operative soft diets. This is practical in a way that beach destinations are not: you are never far from suitable food, pharmacies, or the clinic if you need to return for a check.
After the initial 48–72 hours of rest post-procedure, gentle walking in the Old Quarter is a reasonable recovery activity. The 36 streets of the historic zone are best explored on foot in early mornings or evenings when motorbike traffic is lighter. Hồ Tây (West Lake) offers a flat, low-traffic circuit — the southern end near the Trúc Bạch Lake is particularly calm and only minutes from the flagship clinic.
Hanoi also has a functioning café culture with reliable Wi-Fi, which matters for patients taking a working week for treatment — it is feasible to manage remote work in the mornings and attend appointments in the afternoons.
Westlake Square — the quieter branch
Patients staying in the Westlake or Mỹ Đình areas, or those who prefer less ambient noise during their recovery stay, may find the Westlake Square branch a better fit. The LKC22 Hoàng Minh Thảo address is in a newer commercial and residential development with lower foot traffic than the Old Quarter.
The Westlake area itself has a number of international restaurants, quieter lakeside walks, and a slightly less chaotic urban environment than the Old Quarter. For full-arch patients who need a calmer post-surgical few days, this side of the city can be a worthwhile choice. Discuss branch preference with your patient coordinator when you book.
Treatments well-suited to Hanoi
Hanoi is the flagship city for the full Picasso treatment range. All treatments available at any Picasso branch can be completed here.
All-on-4 full arch — Osstem-based All-on-4 from NZD 8,333 per arch; Nobel or Straumann All-on-4 from NZD 14,667. Full-arch cases involve surgical load and several days of meaningful recovery. Hanoi’s city environment — with hotel soft-food room service, minimal walking requirements, and immediate clinic access — suits this recovery period well. See /all-on-4/.
Dental implants — single Nobel or Straumann implants from NZD 2,667 per implant (NZ equivalent: NZD 6,000–7,000). Single implant cases often require multiple visits; Hanoi is a practical hub for NZ patients planning a return trip during the osseointegration period. See /dental-implants/.
Veneers and smile makeovers — Emax veneers from NZD 600 per unit. A full 10-unit set is approximately NZD 6,000. The cultural city environment suits patients who want a productive week of treatment and exploration, rather than purely beach rest. See /veneers/.

Hanoi vs Da Nang — which city for which patient?
This is a genuine decision point and the honest answer depends on your departure city, treatment type, and recovery preference.
Da Nang tends to suit: Auckland patients who value the direct flight; shorter cosmetic cases (veneers, crowns, smile makeover); patients who want beach walking as part of recovery; those combining treatment with a Da Nang or Hoi An holiday.
Hanoi tends to suit: Christchurch and Wellington patients where the one-stop fare is competitive; complex surgical cases including All-on-4 and multi-implant work where a city recovery environment is more appropriate than beach activity; patients who want a longer cultural stay in northern Vietnam (Hà Long Bay, Ninh Bình); winter city breaks where Hanoi’s cooler, drier season aligns with the NZ winter.
There is no clinical reason to prefer one city over the other — treatment quality is consistent. The decision is logistical and personal. Your patient coordinator can discuss which route makes more sense for your specific case when you request a quote.
For a side-by-side comparison of the two cities, see /vietnam/da-nang/.
Practical logistics: Noi Bai airport to clinic
Noi Bai to Old Quarter flagship (16 Phố Châu Long): approximately 35–45 km, typically 45–60 minutes by car. The Noi Bai–Nhat Tan expressway has significantly improved journey times in recent years, but rush-hour traffic in inner Hanoi can add time. Grab is reliable and uses fixed pricing to certain zones. Budget NZD 15–20.
Noi Bai to Westlake Square branch (LKC22 Hoàng Minh Thảo, Bắc Từ Liêm): slightly shorter — the Bắc Từ Liêm district is north-west of the city, closer to the airport than the Old Quarter. Approximately 25–35 minutes under normal conditions.
Private transfer: your patient coordinator can arrange a private transfer if you prefer a fixed price and a name-board pickup. Confirm this when booking your first appointment.
In-city transport: Grab is the standard option for in-city travel. Hanoi taxis are also metered and generally reliable from major hotels. Walking is practical near both branches for short distances.
Best time to visit Hanoi for recovery
Hanoi has four distinct seasons, which is relevant when choosing a recovery environment.
October through April is generally the best window: cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and less sweating around post-operative sites. November through February can be genuinely cool (10–18°C), which some NZ patients find comfortable. March and April bring warming temperatures and lower rainfall — a good balance.
May through September is the hot and humid season. July and August can be oppressively humid (35°C with high humidity), which is less comfortable for post-operative healing and makes outdoor walking less pleasant. Patients with choice of travel dates should avoid peak summer if possible.
The NZ winter (July–August) aligns with Hanoi’s hottest months — worth noting for Kiwis planning a “winter escape and treatment” trip. Either push the trip to October or check Da Nang, which shares similar summer heat but has the beach infrastructure that makes hot-weather recovery more manageable.

Frequently asked questions
Which Hanoi branch is better for my treatment — Old Quarter or Westlake?
The Old Quarter flagship at 16 Phố Châu Long handles the full range of treatments and is where most visiting NZ patients are seen. It is close to Trúc Bạch Lake and the historic Old Quarter area, with many hotels within walking distance. The Westlake branch at LKC22 Hoàng Minh Thảo is newer, quieter, and sees less tourist foot traffic — it can suit patients who prefer a calmer environment and have flexibility on location. Your patient coordinator will advise which branch is appropriate for your specific case.
What is the best Christchurch route to Hanoi?
Christchurch (CHC) to Hanoi (HAN) typically involves one stop — commonly via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Bangkok. One-way fares from Christchurch have been observed at approximately NZD 750 or above (May 2026). Wellington (WLG) passengers have similar options. Neither city has a direct service to Hanoi. Check current fares through major aggregators, as pricing changes with season and availability.
How far is the Hanoi clinic from Noi Bai airport?
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is approximately 35–45 km from the Old Quarter flagship, which typically takes 45–60 minutes by car depending on traffic. The express highway has improved journey times in recent years. Grab is reliable from Noi Bai. Your patient coordinator can arrange a private airport transfer. Budget approximately NZD 15–20 for a taxi or Grab.
Should I choose Hanoi or Da Nang for implants?
Clinical quality at Picasso is consistent across branches — the choice is mainly about logistics and recovery preference. Da Nang has the direct Auckland flight advantage and beach recovery. Hanoi is typically the better option for Christchurch and Wellington patients, for patients planning an extended cultural stay in northern Vietnam, or for complex cases like All-on-4 where a longer recovery in a city environment suits the post-surgical phase better than beach activity.
Which Hanoi neighbourhood is best for dental recovery?
The Trúc Bạch area, near the Old Quarter flagship, gives easy clinic access and a calmer environment than the core 36 streets of the Old Quarter. Hồ Tây (West Lake) is nearby — flat walking paths around the lake are well-suited to gentle post-operative exercise. The Westlake Square area around the second branch is quieter still and has a number of international restaurants with soft-food options.
What currency and payment options does Picasso Hanoi accept?
Picasso accepts Visa/Mastercard POS, Vietnam bank transfer, and VND cash. Vietnamese dong (VND) is the local currency. ATMs are widely available in Hanoi. As of May 2026, the indicative rate used for NZD pricing is 1 NZD = 15,000 VND. Notify your NZ bank before travel. Prices in your written quote will be confirmed in VND with an NZD equivalent at the time of quoting.
Does Picasso Hanoi communicate in English?
Yes — Picasso staff communicate in English and Vietnamese. Patient coordinators handle English-language correspondence by email and in person. Treatment plans, consent forms, and written quotes are provided in English for NZ patients.
Is the Old Quarter walkable for recovery between appointments?
Hanoi's Old Quarter is walkable but busy with motorbike traffic, especially on the 36 streets. The Trúc Bạch Lake area adjacent to the clinic is quieter and genuinely pleasant for slow recovery walks. Hồ Tây offers a longer flat circuit. The Old Quarter itself is worth exploring in the early evenings when traffic eases — but patients in the first 48–72 hours post-procedure should keep walking to a minimum and rest in their accommodation.
