Brittany from Hamilton — 8 Lisi veneers for on-camera work
Real patient story — a Hamilton content creator travels to Picasso Dental Clinic for 8 Lisi veneers at the May 2026 NZD price. NZD 6,400 clinical cost.
Brittany, 29, a Hamilton content creator, travelled to Picasso Dental Clinic in Hanoi for 8 Lisi veneers across the upper smile zone — NZD 6,400 clinical cost (May 2026 Picasso price list, 1 NZD = 15,000 VND), 10-day trip end-to-end, design locked during the Portrait Sitting on day 2.

Brittany is 29, a Hamilton content creator who films herself for a living — beauty and lifestyle clips, several a week, all close-up and all under bright light. Her front teeth had always sat slightly uneven, with a greyish older bonding repair on one central incisor that picked up oddly under ring light and that she had learned to hide by angling her head. After two years of editing around her own smile, she decided to fix it properly. A Hamilton private clinic had quoted her around NZD 18,000 for 8 upper veneers, which was more than a full quarter of her income.
She messaged us after watching a creator she follows post about travelling for dental work. She sent a short selfie video and six stills on a Sunday night. We returned a written, itemised NZD quote within 24 hours: 8 Lisi veneers at NZD 800 per tooth = NZD 6,400 (May 2026 Picasso price list, 1 NZD = 15,000 VND), with a 7-year warranty.
What mattered most: how they’d read on camera
Brittany’s brief was unusual and specific. In her words from the post-trip survey: “I didn’t want Hollywood-white. I’ve seen what flash does to those — they go flat and chalky, like a row of Tic Tacs. I needed teeth that still looked like teeth when I’m two inches from the lens.”
The pre-trip conversation was built around that:
- Material: Lisi, a lithium-disilicate press ceramic with layered translucency, so the veneers keep depth under bright and flash lighting instead of flattening out.
- Shade: a half-step down from the brightest available, chosen so the result read as healthy rather than bleached on camera.
- Preparation: 0.3 to 0.5 mm enamel reduction, conservative, with the old bonding removed and the tooth underneath assessed first. We sent her the Turkey teeth explained page so she understood why we do not grind healthy teeth down to pegs.
She also asked about recourse, and we covered the written warranty and travel reimbursement terms before she booked.
The 10-day trip
| Day | What happened |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | HLZ to HAN via Auckland and Singapore. Arrival late evening. Hotel check-in near the Old Quarter. |
| Day 2 | Consultation 09:30. Photographs, OPG, iTero digital scan. Portrait Sitting in the afternoon — over 2 hours on shade, translucency, length, and edge shape, with test shots under our ring light to check how each shade read on camera. |
| Day 3 | Preparation 09:00 to 13:30. Old bonding removed, 8 upper teeth prepared. Temporaries fitted and photographed under light. |
| Days 4–7 | Temporaries phase. We asked her to film with them and flag anything — bite, speech, how they looked on playback. She came in on day 5 to shorten the two central edges very slightly. |
| Day 8 | Final fit. 3.5 hours. Bonding, occlusion check, on-camera photo set. |
| Day 9 | Review, 30 minutes. Polishing and a final occlusion re-check. |
| Day 10 | Fly home to Hamilton. |
Filming with the temporaries was the step she valued most. “Being able to see how the shape actually moved on video before anything was permanent — that’s the part nobody warns you exists, and it’s the most important part.”
What it cost end-to-end
| Line item | NZD |
|---|---|
| 8 Lisi veneers (clinical) | 6,400 |
| Consultation + OPG + iTero | included |
| Return flight Hamilton to Hanoi | 2,100 |
| Hotel — 10 nights, mid-range | 1,050 |
| Food and local transport | 600 |
| Total | 10,150 |
Against an NZ benchmark of NZD 16,000 to NZD 20,000 for 8 veneers from a Hamilton private clinic, the gross saving was NZD 9,600 to NZD 13,600, and the net saving after travel was NZD 5,850 to NZD 9,850.
She wrote off the trip days as a content shoot — she filmed Hanoi between appointments and got three weeks of posts out of it.
The thing she didn’t expect
In her words: “I thought the temporaries would look obviously fake on camera and I’d have to stop posting for the week. They didn’t. They were good enough that I filmed normally the whole time, and honestly a couple of those clips performed best. I was bracing for a downgrade and it was the opposite.”
We have started keeping a small note for creator patients on exactly this, because the temporaries week is the one most of them dread for the wrong reasons.
What aftercare looked like back in Hamilton
Brittany booked her own NZ dentist for a bite check before she flew out, so it was locked in. The appointment was 3 weeks after she got home. Her dentist checked the occlusion, confirmed the margins, and signed the case off. We received the report and filed it.
She has had one 6-monthly clean since, reported as clean, with the next check scheduled.
Brittany’s three pieces of advice
From her survey response:
- “If you work on camera, bring your own light to the design session and ask to shoot test shots of each shade. The shade that looks great in a mirror is not always the one that films well.”
- “Don’t rush the temporaries. Live with them, film with them, and speak up if a single edge bugs you. Day 5 was when I asked for the change that made it right.”
- “Treat it like a real trip, not a quick errand. I gave myself the full ten days and stayed relaxed. Friends who try to compress it into five always seem stressed.”

Frequently asked questions
Is Brittany a real patient?
Yes. Brittany is a real Picasso Dental Clinic patient who has given written permission for us to share their experience with other New Zealand patients considering treatment. Treatment, material/brand, NZD price, and timeline are accurate to the case archive.
What did the veneers cost in NZD?
8 Lisi veneers at NZD 800 per unit = NZD 6,400 total clinical cost (May 2026 Picasso price list, 1 NZD = 15,000 VND). This excludes flights, accommodation, and any pre-trip work.
Do Lisi veneers photograph well under bright light?
Lisi is a lithium-disilicate press ceramic with layered translucency, so it reads as natural enamel under ring light and flash rather than the flat, opaque 'block' look that over-bright shades can give on camera. Final shade and translucency are chosen together during the Portrait Sitting.
What warranty applies to Lisi veneers?
7-year warranty on Lisi veneers from Picasso. Manufacturer warranty applies in parallel. Warranty covers fracture or debonding not caused by trauma or untreated bruxism. See the full /warranty/ page for tier-by-tier terms.
