Frequently asked questions
Is the video consultation really free?
Yes. There is no charge, no deposit, and no obligation to book treatment. The call is 20 minutes with an English-speaking Picasso Dental Clinic coordinator who prepares a written NZD estimate for your case before the call starts. If you decide not to proceed, you keep the written plan to use as a planning document or to compare against your New Zealand quotes.
What platform do you use for the video call?
Zoom or Google Meet — your choice. The coordinator sends a meeting link by email once your photos arrive and your slot is confirmed. Both platforms are free for you to use and work in a browser without installing anything, and the coordinator confirms your platform ahead of the call.
What time zone do the booking slots show in?
All available times shown in the scheduler are in New Zealand Standard Time (NZST, GMT+12). During New Zealand daylight saving (roughly the last Sunday of September to the first Sunday of April) the displayed times automatically adjust to NZDT (GMT+13). Vietnam operates on GMT+7 — 5 to 6 hours behind New Zealand — but you see NZ times only in the scheduler.
How should I prepare for the consultation?
Send your dental photos before the call — six phone photos are enough (front smile, front retracted, right bite, left bite, upper arch open, lower arch open). If you have an OPG X-ray from the last two years, send that too. Email both to [email protected] at least 4 hours before your scheduled call so the coordinator can review them and have a written NZD estimate ready when you connect. Indoor light is enough — no professional photography.
Can I book for someone else — a spouse, parent, or partner?
Yes. Select any available slot and note in the message field that the appointment is for a different patient. Include their name, age, and dental goals. The coordinator will prepare the estimate for the actual patient. You can join the call yourself if you are accompanying them as a support person — many New Zealand couples plan dental work together.
What if I miss my slot or need to reschedule?
Use the reschedule link in your confirmation email, directly. The team can usually accommodate a reschedule within 24 hours. No penalty applies — there is no deposit at stake. If you miss the call without notice the coordinator will email a follow-up with two new slot suggestions.
Will the dentist be on the call, or just a coordinator?
The initial call is with an English-speaking patient coordinator who prepares your NZD plan and answers logistics questions. If your case needs a clinical opinion — for example complex implants, bone grafting, full-arch reconstruction, or significant cosmetic redesign — the coordinator will schedule a follow-up call directly with the treating dentist (Dr. Tran Thanh Phong for implant cases, Dr. Emily Nguyen for cosmetic cases, Dr. Thuan Phung for orthodontics) at no extra cost.
Do I need to be in New Zealand to book?
No. The consultation is for anyone considering treatment at Picasso Dental Clinic. Patients from Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada, and elsewhere have used this same process. Slot times are shown in NZST or NZDT by default — if you are in a different time zone, note it in the message field and the coordinator will confirm your local time on the booking confirmation.
What can I get from a 20-minute call that I cannot get from the free-quote form?
Live back-and-forth on your specific case — shade matching questions, implant timing, whether a second trip is needed, which Picasso branch suits your travel plans (Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, or Da Lat), and what the treatment sequence looks like. The written NZD estimate is the same either way; the call adds the ability to ask follow-up questions in real time and to look at your photos with the coordinator on screen.
What is Picasso's cancellation rate for consultations?
Less than 5% of booked consultations are cancelled by the clinic. The main reasons for a clinic-side reschedule are public holidays in Vietnam (Tết, Hùng Kings' Day, Reunification Day, National Day) and occasional scheduling conflicts. In those cases the team contacts you at least 24 hours in advance and offers an alternative slot within 48 hours.
What does a Picasso NZD treatment plan include?
Every NZD plan is itemised: treatment lines listed individually (per veneer, per implant, per scan, per arch), brand and material named (Emax Press, Lava, Zirconia, Osstem, ETK, Neodent, Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Straumann BLX), warranty term per material (5 to 10 years depending on tier — never lifetime), recommended Picasso branch, estimated trip length in days, and notes on any second trip required. The plan also flags any case where the trip would not make financial sense — for example a single filling or a routine clean.
How are the NZD figures calculated?
Every NZD figure on the written plan is converted from the Picasso price list (denominated in VND) at the current quote rate. As of May 2026, the rate used is 1 NZD = 15,000 VND. The conversion rate is printed on the plan so you can verify the maths yourself. Payment is taken in Vietnam in VND, or by Visa/Mastercard POS card payment in Vietnam at the bank rate on the day.
Can the consultation cover combined treatments — for example veneers plus implants?
Yes. Most New Zealand patients combining cosmetic and surgical work want to know whether sequencing is possible in one trip or whether two trips are needed. The coordinator can map the treatment sequence (implants first, healing window, then veneers), the trip-length impact, and the branch choice that supports both procedures. The written plan separates the two treatment lines so you can see the cost of each.
What languages does Picasso work in?
Picasso Dental Clinic works with patients in English and Vietnamese only. All consultations for New Zealand patients are conducted in English with an English-speaking coordinator. All quote correspondence, treatment plans, invoices, warranty documents, and aftercare instructions are issued in English. French and Russian are not supported.
What happens after the consultation?
The coordinator emails you the written NZD plan within 24 hours of the call. The plan stays valid for 90 days at the quoted exchange rate — if you proceed within that window, the NZD figure is honoured. You can request revisions, ask for additional treatment lines to be costed, or request a follow-up call with the treating dentist. There is no deposit until you confirm travel dates.
